plausible

adjective

Definition: 1. appearing to be true; 2. reasonable and most likely credible

Synonyms: believable, credible, conceivable, reasonable, logical, possible, feasible

Antonyms: impossible, illogical, uncertain, questionable, doubtful

Tips: Think of the phonetically similar word possible, as it means "capable of happening; feasible." Plausible describes something possible to believe, although it doesn't necessarily have to be true, or may not yet be proven.

I believed the lie because it seemed plausible to me. (believable, logical)
