V2 Vocabulary Building Dictionary

Definition: to improve or make better

Synonyms: amend, meliorate, improve, better, enhance, help

Antonyms: worsen, deteriorate, damage, impair

Tips: Ameliorate is derived from the Latin melior, "better." You'll also notice that meliorate, an earlier form of ameliorate, is a synonym. Eating fruits and vegetables can ameliorate your health. (improve, better)
