Definition: skilled or knowledgeable, especially from experience

Synonyms: skilled, knowledgeable, proficient, conversant, familiar, practiced, informed

Antonyms: unskilled, unfamiliar, uninformed, ignorant

Tips: Versed is a powerful word to describe knowledge and skill, especially that which is gained from experience. For a memory trick, note how versed looks like "version." Now, consider what it takes to be versed in a software program; it often helps to have experience with past versions of a program to be well-versed in the most recent version of the program. When you are well-versed in something, you know a lot about it. Versed is similar in meaning to conversant. See conversant for additional analysis.
