Definition: 1. to unfold or expand and develop gradually, often into something more complex or advanced; 2. to change and develop from an earlier biological form

Synonyms: mature, ripen, unfold, advance, mutate, metamorphose, adapt, change

Antonyms: recede, regress, halt, remain, stay

Tips: Think of the theory of evolution, which states that beings are constantly evolving and changing to better adapt to their surroundings. The essence of evolve is "to change in order to adapt to the environment." When a business evolves as it grows, it changes and adapts to the evolving (growing, changing) needs of its customers. A person, animal, or entity that is described as "highly evolved" is mature, smart, and well-adapted to its environment.

Usage Examples:

Business strategies must evolve in relation to the demands of consumers. (advance, change)

Our society has evolved to be highly reliant on technology. (changed, advanced)

Remember, this is a fluid program and it will change and evolve many times before it's complete. (change)
