Tips: Auspices is usually used in the form, "under the auspices of." It is a more sophisticated way of saying "under the protection of," "under the guidance of," or "under the support of." It is similar to tutelage except that "under her tutelage" refers more to teaching or mentoring than "under the auspices of." In the singular, auspice, it can mean "a sign or omen interpreted by an augur." Be careful not to confuse auspices with its homonym auspicious.
